Image
One of the high points of the International Conventions are all the new friends you will make.   But how do you get to know one another beyond what’s on the nametags? The usual ideas come to mind like exchanging business cards, sitting with new people at meals, and chatting with your neighbors at breakout sessions. But will you remember them next year or even a month from now? How can you make a connection that lasts? If you really want to make a connection beyond the convention, you will have to go the extra mile. It’s about quality, not quantity. When you have a conversation with a fellow DKG sister, try to find mutual interests or commonalities. Ask open-ended questions. What level of education do you work in? What motivated you to come to the convention? Share stories. How did you become a DKG member? What led you to the field of education? Tell me about your favorite memory as an educator. Like any relationship, you need to keep the connection alive. While at the convention,
