Traveling is a wonderful adventure: exploring new places or revisiting areas which are favorites. New Orleans offers a mega experience for all travelers. From the cultural vibes of the city to the unique architecture, street musicians, delicious and unique foods along with museums and entertainment venues, there is something for everyone. But the #1 item on your travel checklist should be “Caution”. Being cautious is one way to ensure a memorable experience. Whether traveling locally, nationally or internationally, safety you should always “pack” that cautious persona!   The travel and safety tips below serve as a “reminder/refresher” for traveling at any time. Consider exploring the city in groups. Create your own group or ask to join others as they are headed out on a day of adventures. Avoid darkly lit areas. Take the “Lighter” well-lit routes. Join the Chorus!

So many different opportunities are available for members throughout the Convention. Volunteering , presenting workshops, leading breakaways, hosting a table, singing in the chorus. Singing! If you enjoy singing, then you will surely want to s ign up for the special musical presentations throughout our time in New Orleans.  Don’t worry! You will not be alone.  Others from member countries are signing up to participate.  What can you expect as a member of the chorus? Two performances are on the a genda for the chorus: (1) Celebration of Life on Friday morning and (2) DKG Society Dinner on Saturday night.  There are four rehearsals to help you learn the music and get you acquainted with others.  These rehearsal times are later in the day, so you don’ t miss general meetings, breakout sessions or other activities scheduled throughout the convention.     To join Marsha Brewer, Chorus Director, and the New Orleans Convention Chorus , sign up at www.dkg.org under “Events.”  Tap on New Or

Flying into New Orleans

Coming to the 2022 DKG International Convention via air? Here are a few pointers on getting to the Sheraton on Canal Street from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport: First floor - Baggage claim Check the monitor to find which carousel will have your baggage Transportation opportunities: Taxi Cheaper to have others along for the ride. Three passengers are $15 each.  Rental car choices are in abundance. Parking downtown will also be an added cost to this opportunity. Sheraton parking is $35 per day. Valet is $52 per day.
