The time is now! Have a great idea that you want to share with other DKG members? Is presenting at a DKG International Conference on your bucket list? As members of DKG, we have the opportunity to share our projects, classroom procedures and individual endeavors with women from around the world. Proposals for workshops are categorized in a variety of presentation strands which address the specific areas of the subject content. So, don’t know what to do? Well, here’s a few guiding questions as you prepare to submit a proposal for presenting at the 2022 International Convention.

1. What is the title of my presentation?

2. What is the subject matter?

3. What age group does my presentation address?

4. Who is the target audience?

5. Will I have a shared presentation with another member of DKG?

These are just a few ideas to get you started on the road to becoming a presenter at the 2022 DKG International Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. DKG INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION NEW ORLEANS FOOD!!

Plan to come to New Orleans for the International Convention to enjoy all the activities, both educational and fun. But what could be more enjoyable than FOOD!! Convention planners have organized a luncheon for everyone on Thursday, regional breakfasts on Friday, and of course the DKG Society Dinner on Saturday. Have you thought about where to eat during the other times that hunger strikes? New Orleans is famous for many regional delights. Cajun foods are found everywhere. Gumbo, a regional delight, is a one-pot mouth-watering stew filled with chicken, sausage, seafood and okra all prepared in a rich brown roux. Another regional delicacy is jambalaya. Jambalaya is rice and pork or rice and seafood (or both). Give both a try. You will not be disappointed. Making Lasting Connections

One of the high points of the International Conventions are all the new friends you will make.   But how do you get to know one another beyond what’s on the nametags? The usual ideas come to mind like exchanging business cards, sitting with new people at meals, and chatting with your neighbors at breakout sessions. But will you remember them next year or even a month from now? How can you make a connection that lasts? If you really want to make a connection beyond the convention, you will have to go the extra mile. It’s about quality, not quantity. When you have a conversation with a fellow DKG sister, try to find mutual interests or commonalities. Ask open-ended questions. What level of education do you work in? What motivated you to come to the convention? Share stories. How did you become a DKG member? What led you to the field of education? Tell me about your favorite memory as an educator. Join Us at the 2022 International Convention in New Orleans!

  It’s almost the New Year and many are already making plans for 2022. One of the most exciting things that will happen in the new year is the 2022 International Convention in New Orleans. You simply have to be there to experience the thrill of it all! Remember, during the Convention we will vote on Society business, install new officers, meet new members, and so much more.  Don't forget that we are meeting in a city rich in culture and cuisine. Wow! So much to do and see. This Convention will be a time to make new friends and reconnect with ones we’ve met in the past. Let’s get ready to gather in person and share a cup of coffee and a beignet!
